The ‘Myths of Cyprus’ series are traveling to the UK. q&a with DIRECTOR MARKOS KASSINOS

This December, ‘Myths of Cyprus’ Series was presented at the University of Cambridge, at Jesus College, marking an important international moment for our Director Markos Kassinos of JUNO12 and his work in cultural storytelling. Created with the Press and Information Office of the Republic of Cyprus and researcher Dr. Iosif Hadjikyriakos, the series approaches heritage not as something static, but as something that must be continuously retold and reimagined.

Blending live-action and animation in short, contemporary episodes, the project opens ancient Cypriot myths to new audiences and frames tradition as a living language, one that connects landscape, memory, and identity across generations.

The evening concluded with an in-person conversation with Kassinos and Hadjikyriakos, exploring how folklore, art, and film can safeguard cultural identity.

The screening was hosted by Matthew Webb and organized in collaboration with Cyprus Global Cultures and Marios, bringing the project into a broader cultural dialogue.
